The second meeting of the Assisteen Auxiliary met at the home of Beverly and Jerry Charles for a pizza party on December 10th. The students enjoyed pizza made by Jerry in his backyard oven. They played a get to know you game and made smores. The students will meet the second Saturday of each month during the school year and also participate in fundraising activities and outreach to the communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista At the next meeting, on January 14th, they will be electing officers, planning their calendar for the year and working on a design for the group's t-shirt. Volunteering for the program gives the students the opportunity to complete community service hours, develop leadership skills, gain work experience, explore the value of philanthropic work in their community and seniors have may fill out an application for a $2,500 scholarship.
