2022 Anne Banning Leadership Award

February 24, 2022

The Anne Banning Leadership Award

We are delighted to introduce our 2022 Anne Banning Leadership Award recipient this year, Paula Alexander.  This award is named after the founder of Assistance League, who promoted the growth of effective volunteerism through leadership and education.  The award demonstrates the importance and value of leadership to Assistance League chapters, while also honoring the accomplishments and dedication of the recipient.

Paula Alexander truly exemplifies the core values of our chapter: integrity through honest communications and respect for others, accountable for maintaining a fiscally responsible approach to our services, committed to service to others that is compassionate, giving and caring and promotes professional leadership that is ethical, sensitive and fosters risk-taking and forward thinking.

According to Mona Ackerman, who introduced the award at the membership meeting, “Our recipient has been a member of ALNC since 2003. She has served on many committees and philanthropic programs since that time: Investment Committee, Financial Committee, Auditing Committee and Autumn Fantasy Committee to name a few.” She is presently our Financial Chairperson and has maintained our donor perfect records for 14 years.

Mona also said, “As Resource Development chair I am involved with several committees.  When a Focus Group met to help me get a handle on my new job, I was beyond grateful when Paula agreed to be there. She provides clarity and guidance whenever and wherever her counsel is required.   At our most recent Grant Committee meeting there was a question regarding the best format to use for incorporating financial statements into the grant requests. The response from our chairman was, “I will ask Paula.”

As recently as this week she created the link so people can purchase their tickets to “Enduring Stories” on the website.

When we were planning our Autumn Fantasy fundraising Paula, in collaboration with Sally Puhek, figured out how to collect, record and track the donations. She also researched and then presented a program that would streamline fundraising and Donor Perfect was implemented.  That first year and many years since the Patron Party has been held at her lovely home in St. Malo.

We are so grateful Paula decided to join ALNC 19 years ago.
