Benefits of Legacy Giving

A Living Will or Trust is a legal document that provides guidance on how you want your property and assets to be handled in the event of an emergency, disability, or death. The document can also provide guidance for how you would like any gifts made to charity during your lifetime to be distributed after your death. A Living Trust can help make sure that donations are used as intended by the donor. For example, if someone wishes to donate a large sum of money upon their passing but does not have a will specifying where it should go, then it could end up going into probate court and being used for other purposes than intended by the original owner.

Legal Information and Bequest Language for Charitable Gifts

The following information is provided to assist you in developing your charitable gift and estate plans in consultation with your attorney, accountant and/or other advisors.

The legal name to be used when making gift transfer documents is “Assistance League® of North Coast, a California nonprofit corporation, with its principal place of business at Oceanside, California.”

The following language is recommended for making a gift to the endowment:

“I hereby give to Assistance League of North Coast, a California nonprofit corporation with its principal place of business at Oceanside, CA:

*The sum of $_____________________ (amount) and/or

*The following described property_______________________________ (description) and/or

*________________ (percent) of the residue of my estate.

This gift shall be included in the Assistance League of North Coast Endowment Fund.

Confirmation of the tax-exempt status for Assistance League of North Coast is provided in the form of a letter from the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Treasury. A copy of this document can be obtained by contacting Pam Whitaker at pam@alnc.org or Marcia Carucci at marcia@alnc.org. The Federal Tax Identification Number for Assistance League North Coast is 33-0530220 and the Group Number is 4146.
