After working in our combined professions of Banking and Teaching for 66 years we both retired in 2001 and 2006, respectively. Our focus since retiring is family, travel, friends and giving back to our community.
We are both members of Assistance League North Coast and San Diego Parrot Head Club (aka) Jimmy Buffet fans. We enjoy the “Hands On” approach to the Assistance League North Coast programs. Our favorite joint participation is Footsteps, Winter Warmth and supporting the Annual Gala Fundraiser. It is such a joy to see the smiling faces of every student we help. Another big aspect we appreciate is how Assistance League North Coast handles their organization. For instance, how they manage the Thrift Shop to insure continued support for the programs. Additionally, the establishment of an endowment and consistent reserves to meet future needs. All of this is guided by the Board of Directors and reviewed in the strategic plan on an annual basis.
Assistance League North Coast has enriched our lives immensely. The member smiles, caring attitude and hard work inspire us to keep pace with this dynamic organization. In thinking about the future of Assistance League North Coast, we decided to become a member of the Legacy Society in April 2019. This was done in consultation with our daughter and her family. We decided to include Assistance League North Coast as part of the Matheus Family Trust. We cannot imagine a world without Assistance League North Coast supporting the communities of Vista, Carlsbad & Oceanside.
